Drugs Used in Nasal Allergy

Indicated in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older for the treatment of moderate to severe nasal symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis

Brand Avamys ( Please do not routinely prescribe Flixonase )

 

Allergic rhinitis - moderate to severe seasonal and perennial if monotherapy with either intranasal antihistamine or glucocorticoid is not considered sufficient.

Brand :  Dymista for Restricted Use in Primary Care

The combination product containing both azelastine and fluticasone should be reserved for those with persistent symptoms, in whom the combination of an oral antihistamine and an intra-nasal corticosteroid has been tried and found to be sufficiently ineffective. The oral antihistamine can then be stopped. It should not be used as a first-line therapy

To be used in Secondary Care for post-operative treatment of nasal polyps ( 6 weeks )
